Texas - A State or a Culture?

As many know, Wes and I are moving to Texas on Monday, July 7th. It feels like we have been waiting forever to leave, but it also feels like the end is sneaking up on us quickly. We are rushing to finish our packing, closing on our house, training the people who are replacing us in our jobs, and looking for homes on the internet. We are really excited about the great opportunity Texas holds for us, but a little scared and nervous because it is a big change. Growing up in Colorado, I have never lived out of the mountains or in humidity. Wes, however, grew up in Illinois and knows what the weather feels like minus the extreme winters. Texas is also closer to both of our parents and will hopefully make it a little easier to visit everyone we want to see.
It is funny when you tell people you are moving to Texas, most think of west Texas. A lot of people don't know that many parts of Texas are green and beautiful. There also seems to be a reaction to the word Texan in general, we are immediately being branded with the big star. The parts of Texas that I have visited I found to be wonderful and a place I would enjoy being. Wes has made it clear, however, that he refuses to ever be a cowboys fan.
Wes is really excited to start his new job; he looks forward to getting settled into a career. We will let you know when we get a house and what it looks like!
