Fall in Texas

It has been such a beautiful fall, we couldn't ask for better weather.  We have taken full advantage of it and try to be outside as much as possible.  Koen is at a really fun age where he is starting to enjoy things more and we can get out and do things togethers.  Here are some pictures from a little photoshoot downtown Roanoke and the pumpkin patch.  We are excited to carve pumpkins with him this weekend.  Happy Fall!

Koen's First Birthday

My baby is 1! (Ok, he actually turned one almost a month ago I am just really late with posting it on my blog. Better late then never!) I can't believe how fast he has grown up. The other day I was going through his baby pictures and couldn't believe he was that little. I almost forget that we have gone through the baby stage. He is now a very active little boy who is in to EVERYTHING and definately has his own personality.

To start Koen's birthday we decided to do his first haircut. I had been complaining for a while that my little boy was starting to look like a little girl, but everytime I said I wanted to do it I experienced cold feet. We decided we would commit on his first birthday. Here is a before picture...
After...

He did really well through the haircut until the end and he decided then he was done. He is precious with either hairstyle, but I love boys with short hair. Then, we opened presents. He loved each present very much, and often we had to remind him there were more to open because he was content playing with the already opened one.

Next, cake! This is the best part of a first birthday, watching the baby attack the cake. Koen had a baby sized bundt cake from a fabulous store in Southlake called Nothing Bundt Cakes. Needless to say, he loved it.

He grabbed the whole cake and shoved it into his mouth!

This was one meal he was not sharing with the dogs. He ate the whole thing!

Lastly, we did some swimming. He absolutely loves to swim, so it was perfectly fitting to jump in the pool. Our wonderful little family. I feel so blessed.

Fun in the Pool!

I just want to start by saying, I love Summer! This last week was a little rough with family sickness, but once the weekend hit we were ready to get out of the house and have some fun. We went for drives, out to eat, hung out with Buca, and went swimming. Koen is a little fish! He loves the water and this was his first time this year to get fully in the pool. We found some cute swim trunks and we were ready to go! He has a wonderful floaty that gives him the independence he craves, and he was spashing and kicking all over the pool. The water was a little cold, we braved it for as long as we could, but then we heated the hot tub up a little and finished in the warm water. It was a wonderful weekend, and the start of a summer filled with swimming!
I love that little angel!

First Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful this year, I absolutely love being a mother to my precious Koen. This was my first year as a mother on Mother's Day. The weather was beautiful so we decided to go out and lounge by the pool. Koen was kicking and splashing with his legs over the side so we decided to strip him down to his onesie (w/ a little swimmer) and let him set in the water. He loved it, I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time in the pool this summer.

It was a wonderful day, and I am so appreciative for my mother and everything she has done for my and continues to do for me. By the end of the day, my boys were crashed. I love my little family!

Koen's First Baseball Game

Last night Koen went to his very first baseball game and loved it! When we first sat down he just stared at the field enamored by the lights and noise. Then he realized all of the crazy fans and started people watching. It was tons of fun to watch him take it all in. The Rangers played great and won!
Koen has a ton of hair and it is starting to curl in the back. He is such a blessing and I absolutely love being a mom. I especially love it when he says mamamamama or yells/grunts it MAMAMAMAMA.
I can't believe how big my little guy is getting. I know I always say that, but it is truely how I feel. He loves sports. He has the Little Tikes sports center and shoots baskets, hits EVERYTHING with the bat (including himself, mommy, daddy, and Max), and plays with the football. I am trying to get a video of him shooting baskets because it is so cute and I am so proud of him, but it is harder than I thought it would be. When I turn on the camera he stops.

When he was first born everyone said he looked like Wes, almost identical. Now, the general consensus is he is more of a mix. What do you think?

Introducing...

Ducky! Koen started doing this cute face a couple of months ago that we have named "Ducky." It is hard to capture it in a picture because he always stops when the camera comes out... Luckily I caught him doing it this weekend. My big boy just turned 8 months last week, and is getting so big! He is currently transitioning into 12-18 month clothing, and I think he is almost out of his carseat!Isn't he adorable! I also just came across this picture from Superbowl weekend when we were plagued with the aweful snow storm. The only good thing that came out of it is we were able to use Koen's winter coat.
Have a wonderful week!
